Hi my name is R J Braunton I am a Wood sculptor and Mixed Media Artist from North Devon England, I Started Wood sculpture in 1962 at 10 years old as I was lucky enough to have an incredible wood crafts man as a next door neighbour. At about the same time I was given some oil paints for Christmas and started to work out how to paint with them. I love to work with wood, I like to produce natural pleasing forms with individuality, every piece is made using my own hands, I love natural forms from nature allowing the timber to unfold it’s own beauty, every piece is unique and one of a kind my work reflects aspects of nature as I see them, I just like to make beautiful things that bring people pleasure I use drift wood, wind blown and fallen or recycled wood, I never use healthy wood from growing trees in my work.
